Our story

Tony Oakes MBE, founder of Plus2Print in Downpatrick — Tony Oakes MBE, our founder

Plus2Print was founded in 1990 by our father, Tony Oakes. He spent years as a compositor at the Down Recorder before following his dream of a business of his own, one he could build for his family.

Alan joined him straight from school and knows the trade inside out. Gavin followed, and today the two brothers run Plus2Print together. The shop is still the friendly, busy place Tony built, where people pop in for a chat as much as for printing.

Tony was also a volunteer firefighter in Downpatrick for over 36 years and was awarded an MBE for his community work. Our business is his legacy. Read Tony's story.
